How to choose a QR menu system in Georgia: a complete guide

Choosing a QR menu does not start with price but with what you need: just showing the menu, a multilingual menu for tourists, or table service too (waiter call, ordering). Below is what to check before you buy, and the questions to ask any provider. This guide was written by QRMENUS; our service is described here as one of the options to weigh.

Which features are essential

  • A QR code that points to a live menu, not a PDF file: that way a price change needs no reprinting.
  • Easy menu editing from a phone or computer.
  • Categories, photos, a price and a description for each dish.
  • Hiding a dish for a while when it runs out.
  • A menu that opens quickly on the guest’s phone without an app.

What a restaurant owner should check

  • Open the demo menu on your own phone: how fast it opens and how clear it is.
  • Try changing a price and see how long it takes to show in the guest menu.
  • Check what happens when the subscription ends or you go back to the free plan: does the menu stay available?
  • Find out whether payment renews automatically and how to cancel it.

Free and paid plans

A free plan usually suits a small menu and has limits. On a paid plan, look at what grows: number of dishes, languages, design, statistics, extra features. Compare like with like: monthly and yearly price, how many locations are included and what an extra one costs.

As an example, the QRMENUS plans (as of 20 October):

Georgian, English and Russian

If you serve tourists, check: how many languages the menu can be in, whether the guest picks the language themselves, and who writes the translation. Some systems offer automatic translation; in that case always check dish names by hand.

On the QRMENUS Pro and Business plans the menu is in three languages: Georgian, English and Russian. You write each dish’s text in each language.

Managing photos, categories and prices

  • How easy it is to add a dish and upload a photo.
  • Whether you can reorder categories and dishes.
  • Whether you can add weight or portion size, allergens and other details.
  • How long a change takes to reach the guest.

Design and branding

See whether you can add a logo, a cover and colours, and how many themes there are. The menu should look like your place, not an ad for the system. QRMENUS has a light and a dark theme, a logo and a cover.

Statistics and their limits

Statistics help you see how often the menu is opened and which dishes get attention. Keep in mind: a menu view is not yet an order, and the number of scans does not equal the number of guests, because several people at one table scan.

Waiter call and orders

If you have table service, check: does each table have its own QR, how does staff learn about a call, what happens after an order and where payment takes place. In QRMENUS Business a table order goes to the waiter and the kitchen display, and payment is made on site.

Managing several branches

For a chain, what matters is one central menu the branches take, and the option for a branch to set its own price or hide a dish. Also find out what an extra location costs and who has access to which branch.

Data import and export

If your menu is already in a spreadsheet, import saves time. Export lets you take the menu with you if you switch systems. In QRMENUS the menu is uploaded from a CSV file and downloaded to Excel.

Support, security and total cost

  • Which language support is in and how you reach it.
  • Who can change the menu and whether you can give staff separate accounts.
  • Total cost: monthly price, extra locations, printing, setup cost.

Questions to ask a provider before you choose

  1. Does the QR code point to a live menu, and does it stay the same when a price changes?
  2. How many languages is the menu in, and who writes the translation?
  3. What is included in the free or trial period, and what happens when it ends?
  4. How many locations are included in the price, and what does an extra one cost?
  5. Where is an order paid: on site or online?
  6. Can I export the menu if I switch systems?
  7. Which language is support in?
